Strap Guide – The Rolex 1655 Explorer Orange Hand
Welcome to the Bulang and Sons Strap Guide. Our aim is to showcase some of our most popular straps on a range of iconic watches so you can see how the different combinations work.
The Freccione Explorer
The Explorer is one of Rolex’s most enduring sports watches. The Explorer 2 reference 1655was introduced in 1971 and was a watch developed for cave explorers, or speleologists to give them their technically correct title. The watch features a large orange 24hr hand that indicates the time against a 24hr fixed bezel. This allowed the correct time to be quick recognizable for people confined to dark spaces for prolonged periods.
A classic matte dial, with offset 24hr lume markers, fixed bezel and the big orange hand (freccione in Italian – ‘big arrow’) give this watch a very distinctive look. Its inherently rugged looks can be dressed up too. We’ve curated a selection of both two-piece and nato straps for you to browse. From the depths to great heights, we have a look for your Freccione!
