'One Watch - Five Days, Five ways' - The Rolex Submariner 5513 Mk1 Maxi....
The latest chapter in our series ‘One Watch, Five Days, Five Ways’ features a Goliath of vintage Rolex Submariners; the legend that is the Mk1 Maxi 5513. In our minds, the Mk1 Maxi is the most iconic of all the matte dialled 5513 watches and is one of the most versatile watches you can own. The Mk1 dial has featured in some of the most desirable Submariners including the British Military 5517 and also the Comex 1680 (in a date version). Dressed up or down it’s a watch that suits any occasion and looks incredible on a leather single-pass strap, side-stitch buckle strap, Oyster bracelet…in fact any way you dress it up it, looks the business!
I am fortunate enough to own an example that has the characteristic bright white plots and a lovely faded insert. I wore the watch last week, all week and here are my ‘Five Days, Five Ways’.
This particular strap is my favourite from the SS15 B&S collection. In fact I love it so much, I’m going to do a ‘One Strap, Five Days, Five Ways’ on it soon. It gives my Mk1 a very chic edge!
Distressed Denim 20mm single-pass Strap
The blue fade of the bezel insert looks fantastic set against the Distressed Denim leather. This is a perfect weekend strap, teamed with your old jeans and a t-shirt.
Chestnut 20mm single-pass Strap
The new Chestnut strap is crafted from leather that has been stonewashed and the finished effect is a cool matte leather, that works perfectly against the tobacco colour of my dial.
Lumberjack 20mm Signature Strap
The Signature strap range is perfect for casual wear due to the straight cut of the strap and its heavy duty 20mm B&S-etched buckle. On the Mk1 5513 it makes the watch a rugged adventurer’s watch – ready for all survival experiences…urban or in the wilds!
Smart Turnout Blue 20mm single-pass Strap
As the weather warms up, our horological minds return to funky coloured single-pass straps. At B&S we stock some great striped single-passs in a range of different colours to match your mood (or shoes!). This is my favourite and, again, it looks great with the blue insert on my Maxi ’13.
