The Inside Story
Heuer is the brand most closely associated with motorsport heritage, and it introduced the Autavia wristwatch line in the early 1960s. These models featured screw-back cases and were produced in various iterations throughout their production run.
This particular example is nicknamed the “Andretti,” named after Formula One World Champion and four-time IndyCar champion Mario Andretti—widely regarded as one of the greatest open-wheel racing drivers of all time.
Andretti was gifted this model by the automotive publication Motor Age as an award for setting the fastest qualifying time in the 1966 Indianapolis 500, and he continued to wear a watch of this type throughout his storied career.
This example is in fine condition, featuring a handsome 39mm case with straight beveled lugs, pump pushers, a screw-down case back, and a rotating bezel that remains in excellent shape.
The dial, with its two silvered sub-registers, is beautifully preserved. It features white printed text, applied hour markers, and the small “T SWISS” signature at 6 o’clock.
Inside, the hand-wound Valjoux 92 movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and is running strong. The watch is paired with a stylish strap from Bulang and Sons, completing the package.
We’ve also put together a strap guide for the Heuer Autavia re-issue over here—which, in fairness, isn’t quite the same thing, we agree—but it’s close! Definitely worth checking out.

Our Warranty
We offer a one-year warranty on the mechanical function of the watch, starting from the day of purchase. We do not guarantee the waterproof nature of any (vintage) watch, unless expressly made in writing. Therefore, our warranty will not cover any damage done to the case and/or movement by water or moisture entering the watch. Our warranty does not apply to accidental damage or mishandling of your watch and does not extend to the bracelet, case parts (including pushers, winding stem, crown and bezel), watch glass, dial and hands.
