The Rarest Rolex Sapphire Sports Watch
The Rolex Explorer is one of the most iconic looking and easy to recognize Rolex sports watches, thanks to its bold Arabic 3-6-9 hour marker dial layout.
In the early 1990s Rolex introduced the sapphire glass 14270 Explorer with applied 3-6-9 numerals, where before they had always been painted.
There were some early very rare examples that had black enamel filled numerals instead of regular luminous material and the dial text was in silver print. It was a short amount of time before Rolex replaced the black enamel with lume and so these watches are incredibly rare and sought after by collectors.
The watch remains in excellent condition with a good case and flawless dial. The watch is fitted with a solid link Oyster bracelet, reference 78360, with a clasp stamped ‘O 12’ and reference 558b endlinks. The watch has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
